Celebrity BFF Squads aren’t new. Remember young king Leo DiCaprio’s Posse in the ‘90s? His boys (and girls, including Sara Gilbert), ran New York and LA back in the day, making everyone they encountered thirsting to be part of their debauchery. Now, thanks to social media, the FOMO is the realest it’s ever been, with all of our favorite celebrities posting photos at the trendiest places with their famous best friends. It’s not just SOUR PATCH and Slurpee these days, it’s BFF pandemonium.
From T-Swift’s army to Amy Schumer’s kweens, here are five of today’s hottest celeb BFF squads we want to be a part of right now. Want to get in on the action? Get famous (this is step 1), grab your famous friends, pick up the new SOUR PATCH Watermelon Slurpee, snap and tag #SPKSlurpeeSelfie with the post.
1. Taylor Swift, HAIM, Jaime King, Gigi Hadid, Serayah, Karlie Kloss, Hailee Steinfeld, Martha Hunt (and Insert Every Famous Person Here)
At this point, who isn’t friends with Taylor Swift? The megastar doesn’t just have a squad, she has a whole army—one that she brings one stage during her tour stops (everyone from Cara Delevingne to the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team), casts in her music videos (just check out the lineup on Bad Blood, which includes Mariska Hargitay and Ellen Pompeo), and travels the world with (see: her London adventure with Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid and her Hawaiian getaway with tourmates HAIM). If that’s not enough to give you FOMO, take a look at the pictures of her 25th birthday party, whose guests included Beyoncé, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Tavi Gevinson, Sam Smith, and every other famous person you can think of. It seems like all it takes to be part of the T squad is to be hot in these streets right now.
2. Rashida Jones, Samantha and Charlotte Ronson, Nicole Richie, and Erin and Sara Foster
Let’s call this The League of Extraordinary Famous Musicians’ Children. Jones has her dad Quincy, the Ronsons are the step kids of Foreigner’s Mick Jones, Richie’s got Lionel, and Erin and Sara have David Foster. The squad’s been tight since childhood, with Jones even going to high school with Nicole Richie. Dinner parties, concerts, fashion shows, and just good old-fashioned kickbacks—the crew keeps it close.
3. Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph
Just imagine basking in the presence of the queens of comedy. The trio have been close since their Saturday Night Live days—Poehler and Fey go as far back as being improv troupe teammates in Chicago—and have been working on each other’s projects ever since. Coming up, Fey and Poehler star in the film Sisters, with Rudolph on that supporting actress tip. We can just imagine the women sipping on wine in Fey’s Upper East Side home, rattling off jokes on everything from PTA meetings to the Kardashians. To be a fly on that wall.
4. Ben Schwartz and His UCB Troupe
Which includes Thomas Middleditch, Zach Woods, Gil Ozeri, Adam Pally, Aziz Ansari, Lauren Lapkus, Megan Amram, and every other Upright Citizen’s Brigade staple you can think of. When Schwartz isn’t performing with his squad (namely, with Pally and Ozeri in the improv troupe, Hot Sauce, and with Middleditch in Shitty Jobs), he’s filming Funny or Die videos with anyone who’s free and/or just getting weird with the squad from coast to coast. We imagine being friends with them is just good for the soul—it’s gotta be a nonstop laugh-fest after all.
5. Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence, and Moar
The Schumer/Lawrence duo is newly formed. The Trainwreck star recently posted a vacation photo of her famous girl pyramid with Jennifer Lawrence on top (preceded by a pic of the two sharing a jet ski), and our collective minds were blown. How could we not have predicted this? The two most unabashedly hilarious women on the planet coming together, swapping dick jokes, dropping F-bombs, and being all-around awesome, with a crew of even more (most likely) funny women. Schumer’s already posted pics of her hanging with the Broad City duo, a perfect addition to her girl squad. But now with Lawrence in the mix? They’re arguably the most enviable BFFs in entertainment.
